What Payd is and how it works
Payd swaps Shopify Payments for your own Whop account at checkout. Your store, theme, apps and orders stay in Shopify.
Payd gives your Shopify store a checkout in Shopify’s layout, with your logo and colors, that takes payment through your own Whop account instead of Shopify Payments. Every paid order is written back into Shopify, so fulfillment, emails and reports work as before.
What happens when a buyer checks out
The buyer clicks Check out on your store. One line in your theme sends them to your Payd checkout instead of Shopify’s.
Payd reads the cart’s products, prices, shipping rates and discount codes from Shopify, so the buyer sees the same totals.
The buyer pays by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay (once Whop verifies your checkout address), or PayPal where your Whop account offers it. The payment goes to your Whop business; Whop is the merchant of record.
When Whop confirms the payment, Payd creates the order in Shopify, marked as paid, with the buyer’s address and the shipping line.
The money shows up in your Whop balance within minutes. You withdraw it from Whop whenever you like (how withdrawals work).
What changes and what stays
- Changes
- Who takes the payment (Whop, not Shopify Payments), and the checkout page.
- Stays
- Your store, theme, apps, products and prices, shipping rates, discount codes, orders, fulfillment and order emails.
Payd never holds your money: it goes straight to your Whop business. Connecting makes Payd your Whop business’s partner: Whop pays Payd a share of the fees it already charges you, and yours don’t change. Your Shopify and Whop keys are stored encrypted. You can pause Payd at any time and buyers are on Shopify checkout again.
